Cría en Isla de los Estados y en Tierra del Fuego. Común de septiembre a febrero. En invierno migran al norte hasta Chiloé por el Pacífico y Puerto Deseado por el Atlántico. Pequeño, robusto y de alas cortas. Vuelo veloz, bajo, de rápidos aleteos. Zambullen constantemente y de manera violenta. L: 21 cm Env: 38

Breeds on Staten Island and Land Fire. Commom between september and February. In winter migrates north reaching Chiloé on the Pacific coasts and Puerto Deseado to the Atlantic.
